Intellectual abortion
February 5th, 2005 |
Went to watch Vera Drake today at the cinema, alone of course. It was brilliant. It’s about a woman in 1950’s Britain who performs abortions. It was just really honest, that’s what i love about British cinema, you don’t get as much “hollywood” in the movies… no there weren’t any outbursts in the court room scene like you have in so many hollywood movies… no there wasn’t any cheesy or over sentimental dialogues… it was all very very honestly done. I hope Imelda Staunton gets an oscar for her role as Vera, she was magnificent. A really heart felt performance. However, seeing as its not that famous a movie she will probably get overlooked. I do recommend you people check it out. Haha plus I got a free movie pass because the sound went all crappy for 10 mins in the middle of the movie, so to make it up UCI gave all the people in the audience a free movie pass… which i’ll use to watch million dollar baby… alone again of course.
On a side note… I got a letter from imperial college London today (who happen to be one of the best in the country for sciences) even though I didn’t bother to turn up at my interview (yes you need to give a stupid interview to get in to the college…) they say their still going to make me an offer/ They must want lil ol’ me pretty bad… Nice feeling to know someone does *nods*.

just came across this, mind if a take the title ‘intellectual abortion’, for this poem im writing?
