It’s called World Wind and before I go on let me mention that it’s FREE!

I suppose the easiest way of describing it, is like a globe in your hands. Allows you to zoom in from satellite altitude to any point on Earth. Much more fun than using an atlas!
No, you cant use it to stalk people (I’ve been asked that a few times today at college when I was talking about it)

Here’s a couple of screenshots I took, to give you some idea of the image detail (image quality will also depend on the type of graphics card you have!) you can expect:

Do bare in mind that it does use the internet to download the images it produces on screen, so if your on 56K, you’ll have to be very patient!
